A Further Word on Acceptance and Forgiveness

The power of acceptance and forgiveness can not be over stated. It is a balm to the soul that we can apply if we just know how.

We can make every difficult experience in life easier by accepting everything and forgiving freely. We should look for oppotunities to forgive for both real and imagined slights or wrongs. The more you forgive the more peaceful your inner life will be despite what may be going on around you. The peace your are experiencing will affect others around you, too. Here are a few more words on this powerful combination.

A relationship may end even if one partner is practicing forgiveness and acceptance. It just that if it does - the person who has accepted and forgiven does not continue suffering. They experience peace of mind and heart. The same can not be said for the other person.

Accepting is NOT liking or agreeing with something. It is important to remember that because it is the things that we don't like or agree with that we don't accept. Accepting is also NOT condoning. So while I do not like, agree with, or condon Ron's false prophesy, I never-the-less accept it. Acceptance is like noticing ---- this is so ---- without any further judgments negative or positive. Just remember to dismiss these thoughts because they will occur and when you do you get back to the powerful state of acceptantance.

I accept that Ron prophesys falsely and as a result have a sense of peace about it perhaps explaining my sense of humor about it. I'm not burned up with anger about it, even though I mock.

Forgiving is NOT condoning something. It just ends the forgiver's suffering and gives an objective view on matters. Forgiving does not make a person a door mat. If you end up a door mat - you're doing it wrong and should review the definition of forgiveness. If you miss a step, you risk slipping back into the suffering that results from unforgiveness. It is OK to talk about things that have happened - it is the intent that matters - such should not be malicious.

Forgiveness and acceptance always result in peace of mind and heart for the practioner in everything from dealing with false prophets to every day personal, family and business relationships and problems.

The good news is that we can use acceptance and forgiveness to reduce suffering in our lives. Another benefit is that doing so allows us to see better ways of dealing with things than we would normally. A lot of times we say or do things that make matters worse. The two allows to use calm words that turn away rage.

To practice them, you must understand them. To more than temporarily undertand them it is necessary to memorize their definitons to make them your own. When you do you will discover their unlimited power to ease your way through life. They always make things easier and you can never wear them out and you don't have to pay a dime for them.

So my e-friends it is my wish that you will put these to reliable and tireless wonder workers to work in your lives and experience the peace God has made possible with the application of these two wonders.

Yours truly

I read of a case where a woman and her husband were not getting along and she was planning to divorce him.

But she planned to be nice to him first so it would be an extra shock when he was served with divorce papers. To her surprise, her husband started being nice back and their marriage was saved.

I imagine some people think that I must passionately hate Ron since I've blogged against him for so long. But that is not the case -- if I hated him there's a lot more that I could have published. I do hate what he does and would like to see him stop voluntarily and if not then for him to be stopped with a minimal amount of harm.

OTOH, I don't see myself liking him either. I wouldn't envision myself hanging out with him and having a beer. But who knows -- maybe if he truly humbled himself to the point that he would work for his younger brother on one of his garbage trucks.

Healthy distinctions.

Good thing we're not required to like everyone or I'd be in trouble, too. Accepting them and their behavior makes dealing with them easier.

Very nice posting. "You can't argue with what is...well you can, but if you do you suffer."

This posting hit me pretty smack in the chin. I have acceptance and forgiveness issues that seem to be resolving much slower than I would prefer. I guess the memory of the body takes time to erase.

Acceptance of the way things are rather than what we wish they were is a gift of the gods...
